Card Grading Guide
Mint (M) / Gem Mint
Perfect card, sharp corners, flawless surface. Usually reserved for factory-sealed or graded cards.
Near Mint (NM)
Almost perfect. Very minor imperfections visible only under close inspection. Most raw cards fall here.
Excellent (EX)
Light wear on corners. Surface may show minor scratches or print defects. Still a great looking card.
Very Good (VG)
Noticeable wear on corners and edges. Creases may be present. Good for player or team collectors.
Good (G)
Heavy wear, multiple creases. Heavily played. Value cards only.
What Are Boxes & Packs?
Hobby Boxes
Full sealed boxes direct from the manufacturer. Usually contain guaranteed autographs or relics. Best odds for hits.
Blaster Boxes
Retail-style boxes with fewer packs. More affordable entry point with some guaranteed inserts.
Hanger Packs
Hanging retail packs with a higher pack count. Great middle ground between single packs and blasters.
Fat Packs / Jumbo Packs
Larger retail packs with more base cards per pack. Good for building sets.
Single Packs
Individual retail packs. The most affordable way to open new products.
Professional Grading
PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator)
The most widely recognized grading company. PSA grades are scored 1-10. PSA 10 (Gem Mint) is the gold standard.
BGS (Beckett Grading Services)
Uses subgrades (centering, corners, edges, surface) to give an overall grade. BGS 9.5 with 10 subgrades is a "Black Label."
SGC (Sportscard Guaranty)
Fast turnaround and highly respected. Uses a 10-point scale similar to PSA.
CGC (Certified Guaranty Company)
Newer to sports cards but gaining traction. Parent company known for comics grading.
